Making Mondays: Mandarin Jam

Mandarins are in season here at the moment and I have fast discovered that I love them...before I had always thought of them as being in the territory of a primary school lunchbox, along with a vegemite sandwich and a cheese stick!

And now the weather has suddenly turned from warm sunny days to raining for three days straight and the kind of cold that makes you pull your woolly scarf up around your neck.  I feel the sudden urge to cook...a lot.

So after making a yummy minestrone (I posted the recipe last Spring here) to warm us up, I decided to make Mandarin Jam.  I found the recipe here on the blog 'The Traveler's Lunchbox'.  This blog is amazing.  The styling of the photos is gorgeous and, if the mandarin jam recipe is anything to go by, the recipes are delicious!  Really, is there a better combination?...travel...good food...perfect!

Ok tomorrow I'll be running to the store (closed today) for a couple of kilos of mandarins
After strawberries and grapes, my third attempt for jam, and filling up the cupboards for hibernating...

Verity,

First... thank you for the kind words. They are very much appreciated.

Second...I've always wanted to make jam, but something always scares me off and I'll say to myself I'll try it another time or wait until someone can show me. You've inspired me to try! I can't wait to check out a new food blog as well - thanks for sharing! Good food and good photography gets me every time.

Hi Verity I love your blog!!! I have to stop or I am going to spend too long on here with a sprained back!

It is really gorgeous. I was wondering where you were from but then after the lunchbox reference I recognise a fellow Australian in exotic location... I love Istanbul and Turkey. Will read more soon! Really lovely...
